Chipboard Love

Hello everyone!

Do you love chipboard? I do.... I have this crazy addiction to chipboard. I love to add it to my scrapbook pages and cards and always have a large selection in my stash to choose from. My favorite chipboard in my stash is from Maya Road but there are lots of companies that have great designs available. You can always make your own using some plain chipboard sheets and your favorite dies or electronic die cutting machine.

Today's project is a wooden frame that is altered with small chipboard pieces to create design and texture on the frame. This is an inexpensive project as this frame can be found in your local craft store for a dollar or two.

Pick out a selection of chipboard pieces. Remember anything goes - you can make it as fun and whimsical with rainbows and clouds or elegant with scrolls and flourishes!

Use a strong glue to adhere the chipboard pieces to the front of your unpainted frame. I used Zip-Dry on mine but any strong adhesive is fine. Allow sufficient time to dry.

Once your chipboard is completely dry, paint with a base color. I chose a creamy antique white. Let paint dry completely.

Paint over with a creamy brown color paint. DO NOT allow this to dry - remove immediately with a rag leaving some paint in the grooves and edges to create an aged, worn look.

The frame is completely dry. Add your desired embellishments. I added some pretty Prima flowers that I sprayed with Glimmer Mist to add some sparkle and shine.

Hope you enjoyed this project. It's one of my favorites and I can't wait to make some more. Hmmmm...... wouldn't this technique also be cool on top of a wooden box?

Make a Wish & Use Your Stash

Hi, there! Carla here today. As I’ve mentioned before, I love to use scraps from my stash to make cards. Here’s one I designed for my mom, using just a couple of stickers left over from different sets, a bit of patterned paper, and a punch.

The secret to creating a card from scraps like this is to unite the elements with a consistent color scheme -- in this case, pink, brown, and blue. I began with the stickers, and I was super excited to find a scrap of old (but still great!) striped patterned paper that tied them both together!

To make the card, I layered brown cardstock on the white card. Then I took a scrap of pink cardstock almost the same size as the brown, and punched the loops on the four corners. I used a craft knife to cut away the sides between each punch, which allowed the loops to extend out from the pink rectangle. After layering the pink cardstock on the brown, all that was left to do was add my stickers and the strips of coordinating patterned paper.

Happy Birthday, Mom!

How to Select Scrapbook Adhesives -- Scrapbook Video Saturday

Hi, it's Carla here for another Scrapbook Video Saturday. Today's topic is how to select adhesives for scrapbooking. When you go to buy adhesives for the first time, the selection can be confusing. Our video tells you what to look for.

If you have trouble seeing the video, you can view How to Pick Adhesives for Scrapbooking -- as well as additional scrapbooking videos -- on Howcast.

Like so many things in scrapbooking, the adhesive you use is a matter of personal preference. Have you found a favorite adhesive? Let us know!

Totally forgot tomorrow is Valentine's Day so I headed to my stash and started to make some cards for some of my loved ones. I still have a few more to make but I love how this one turned out!

A Valentines Treat from the Class Mom's

Virginia here with a little Valentine's treat/gift that I made for my son's sixth grade class. As sixth graders what can you really give them that isn't too baby-ish and that they can use? I found rulers in green, blue and red and lots of Airhead lollipops. I then used some of my Valentine's stash from Martha Stewart Crafts. I took the Mail envelope from a Valentine's kit and snipped the end of one corner with a scissor. Slid the rulers in an angle. Punched out a heart with the 2.5 inch scallop heart punch in Martha pattern heart paper. Added the words "Girls Rule", "Boys Rule" and Teachers Rule" to each of hearts and attached the hearts to the tip of the rulers (to look like an arrowhead). Then I added the Martha Stewart paper tape (from the Hearts and Flowers package) to attach my Airhead lollipops to the envelope. The finishing touch was the label addressed to each kid that they were from "The Class Moms".

I am working on a Valentine treat box for my husband. I hope to get it done before Friday. I will post it when it is done!

Page Layouts Using Project Life

Hi everyone! Darlene here.....

I finally had some time to work using some of my Project Life kits. What I did learn? I still seem to be a traditional 12 x 12 layout girl. With that said, I decided to use my Project Life products on my 12 x 12 page layouts and forego using the Project Life page protectors. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the Project Life product and I love how using the product on my layouts actually cut down on the time I usually spend agonizing over color palettes. Here are a few of my layouts.
